Marked "THE PROTECTOR/MINN. FIRE ARMS CO." on the frame and the side plate is marked "PATENTED/MARCH 6, 1883 **". All numbers match. Each side has a checkered hard rubber panel, with a smooth squeeze grip. Only about 3,000 of these pistols manufactured in 1891 and 1892.

Condition: Very fine as period replated. The pistol retains 90% nickel plating with some mild flaking. There are a couple areas of minor dings. The interior of the pistol retains half of the thin plating. The hard rubber is excellent with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.

B) Manufactured between 1868-1882. Top strap groove sight, with the left side marked "MY FRIEND PAT'D. DEC. 26, 1865". The frame is decorated with broad leaf scroll engraving. Solid grip section, with a checkered shield panel on the rear.

Condition: Good. The cylinder and hammer have a mottled gray patina showing some pin point pitting (mostly on the hammer). The brass has an untouched aged patina and a clear engraving with traces of original silver plating in the protected areas. Mechanically functions, but trigger sticks down. Needs work.
