A) Produced between 1866 and 1878, with the "dual 32 caliber" configuration accounting for only 1,500 of the Wheeler Patent Derringers produced. A silver finished blade sight is positioned on each barrel, with "AMERICAN ARMS CO. BOSTON, MASS." on top and "WHEELER'S PAT. OCT. 31. 1865-JUNE. 19, 1866" on the bottom. Silver finished brass frame, with a checkered hammer, smooth trigger, square butt and smooth grips.

Good, with traces of the original blue finish. The barrel group shows areas of gray patina with hints of brown, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. 20% of the original, deeply aged silver is present on the frame, with a fine mustard patina on the exposed brass. Grips are good, with some varnish loss and dings, along with some minor chipping on the butt. Mechanically very good.

B) As A, except marked "PAT. OCT 31. 1865 - JUNE 19. 1866" on the underside of the barrel group and fitted with a bird's head butt.

Good as refinished, with 65% of the blue on the barrels, showing areas of brown patina, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. A patch of pitting is present behind the top hammer. The frame shows a mixed, streaked color, and the grip is good, with a few minor chips near the frame and scattered dents.
