A) One of approximately 3,000 manufactured in the 1860s. The sides of the frame have the patent date and address markings around the hammer screw. Fitted with smooth ivory grips with the left panel numbered to gun (40).

Good. The barrel cluster has a smooth brown-gray patina with a barrel having a hairline crack towards the breech. The frame retains traces of original silver plating with the exposed brass having a attractive age patina. The period replaced grips are fine with a few minor handling marks. The ivory has an attractive grain pattern and color. Mechanically fine.

B) Manufactured from 1864 to 1869, this is a Fourth Model with the barrel release spring not visible. The left side plate is marked with the 1864 patent date. Fitted with smooth grips.

Fair. The barrel cluster retains traces of original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance showing some light pitting. The frame retains scattered traces of original silver plating in the protected areas with the exposed brass having an attractive patina. The period replaced grips are fair with a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
