1) There are 4 applied floral bosses around a central forged boss depicting a face. There is floral chiseling over most of the shield with gold koftgari decorations. Around the outside edge is an inscription with silver koftgari decoration. There is a bronze applied rim around the edge. Measures 18 3/8 inches in diameter and 3 1/2 inches deep. 2) Beautiful axes were popular both for fighting and ceremony in the Indo-Persian area. Measuring 24 1/4 inches overall, with a 4 3/4 inch long head, featuring a flat hammer striker on one side, a seed-shaped topper, and a 2 5/8 inch long axe blade. Mounted on a metal shaft with alternating round and octagon sections, and a round ball pommel. The head, octagon sections, and pommel are decorated in koftgari-pattern gold inlay, with floral scroll work and geometric patterns. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Good, there is a brown patina overall with most of the gold koftgari remaining. The chiseled designs remain distinguishable. Some of the silver koftgari remains. There is a dent on top of one of the floral bosses. The backside has extensive surface oxidation. 2) Very fine, with a mixed brown and gray patina and strong gold inlay. Exceptional quality.
