Five generations later, Perko Inc. is still a privately owned, family operated corporation. This Perko lantern shows a galvanized Iron construction with a Fresnel lens and a twisted rope attached to the top of the lantern. This piece still shows it's Perko Inc. sticker and is stamped "PERKO" on the bottom of the lantern. This piece shows good condition and measures 10" tall with it's widest circumference measuring 13 1/2". This collection also includes three smaller Auto Lite Mining lanterns. Autolite Carbide Lamps were made by The Universal Lamp Company. The Universal Lamp Company was organized in 1913 by Jacob S. Sherman to produce his Auto-Lite carbide lamps. The company continued to expand its product line over the years until 1960 when Sherman sold his company. Carbide lamps produce and burn acetylene. Acetylene gas lamps were used to illuminate buildings, as lighthouse beacons, and as headlights on motor-cars and bicycles. These lamps all shows a brass construction with each showing a reflector. All three of the lamps shows a carry clip and a rubber ring on the bottom. These each show excellent condition and measure 4" tall by 4 1/2" deep and 3" wide.
