This lot gives you the chance to bid on a set of four Grand Army of the Republic Encampment medals. The lot also includes a "First Annual Convention - Minneapolis - NOV 1919" pin. The G.A.R. Pins range in date from 1910 - 44th Annual - Harrisburg PA, 1911 - 45th Annual - Scranton OH, 1918 - 52nd Annual - Danville, and lastly a 1923 - 57th Annual - Greensburg. The bronze accoutraments were given to attending Civil War veterans of the given annual event. The GAR held its first conference in 1866, and its last in 1956. These pins are a great piece of Union memorabilia, or militaria. The lot is in good condition, there is some slight patina forming on some of the pins where the hanging ring is brazed to the medals. The 1910 medal measures 4" long, and 1 3/4" wide. The medals are displayed in a riker case which measures 12" wide, 8 1/4" tall, and 3/4" deep.
