78. Collection of (750+) vintage Hollywood production and publicity photographs from the collection of Orville Goldner. (ca. 1930s-1950s) Orville Goldner (1906-1985) held various positions during the golden age of Hollywood filmmaking including: Art and Technical Director, Technical Director, Designer, Special Effects and Creator of Animated Films on such Hollywood classics as The Most Dangerous Game (1932) and King Kong (1933). During his tenure in the industry, he amassed a world class collection, which included this vintage original archive of (750+) gelatin silver generally 8 x10 in. photographs primarily on single-weight paper. Some photos are trimmed, some retain studio slugs in the lower border and many retain snipes, written info, and ink stamps on the verso. Featuring production images and behind-the-scenes shots from titles including Abe Lincoln in Illinois, A Double Life, The Adventures of Mark Twain, Alibi Racket, Allegheny Uprising, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Anna Karenina (1935), As You Like It, A Tale of Two Cities, The Big Parade, Boys Town, he Buccaneer, Caesar and Cleopatra, Captains Courageous, Christopher Columbus, The Citadel, David Copperfield, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Gone With the Wind, Goodbye Mr. Chips, Grand Hotel, the Grand Illusion, The Great Dictator, Henry V, Hollywood Cavalcade, The House of the Seven Gables, The House of the Seven Gables, The Howards of Virginia, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), Jane Eyre, Julius Caesar, The Last of the Mohicans, Les Miserables (1935), Little Women (1933), Lost Horizon (1937), Mary of Scotland, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Mutiny on the Bounty, Oliver Twist, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Pinocchio, Pride and Prejudice, The Private Life of Henry VIII, Pygmalion, Quo Vadis, The Adventures of Robin Hood and more.
