<B>Collection of 59 Anti-Suffrage Booklets and Leaflets.</B></I> While the sentiments expressed on these 59 booklets and leaflets may offend, they represent an important collection historically of such attitudes, and, as such, this collection represents an important repository for scholarly study. Some sample items include a pamphlet written by novelist John Dos Passos on how suffrage will lead to the debasement of both men and women, a treatise by the biologist Professor William Sedgewick who notes that “if the movement succeeds, it will throw the world back a thousand years,” a leaflet on how the farmers will lose their vote if women get theirs, a manual of arguments against suffrage to use in debate, an English pamphlet on how the woman M.P. is “a peril to women and the country,” another written by an M.P. on the “woman suffrage fallacy of “equal pay for equal work," etc. There are several pamphlets warning of the connection between Woman Suffrage and socialism, along with several flyers warning that with votes for woman comes Prohibition.
