Collard & Collard London Rosewood Grand Piano
This is a phenomenal 19th century rosewood grand piano from Collard and Collard of London. The piece exhibits a Neoclassical style with a rosewood case having a foliate carved music stand and octagonal tapered legs which have large carved and turned knobs and original casters. The sides of the piano show fine carving works. The ivory keys display well. Marked Collard & Collard London Registered Key Board on the key cover underside. The interior of the case is marked 5892 and 920 which is likely the serial number. For other examples of nearly identical pianos, see: Anne Acker Early Keyboard Instruments and her French Polished Rosewood Collard and Collard circa 1884, serial number 123054 priced at $34,900 (a later serial number and lower grade finish), and the Late 19th Century Collard and Collard Parlor Rosewood Grand Piano circa 1890, priced at $50,000 (lower grade finish and later, both of which were restored). Collard & Collard was one of England’s preeminent piano builders. Established in 1760, this company built high quality expensive pianos for over 200 years. Please inspect the pictures for a complete condition of the piano. There are some small imperfections as photographed. Appears to function. The piano was the pride of the consignor, and truly a gorgeous work of art.*
