Desirable AMQS by Cole Porter across a block of four 3-cent stamps honoring composer Victor Herbert, on an off-white 3.5 x 2.5 card. Porter writes three bars, four notes, of his song "Night and Day," signing below, "Cole Porter, Nov. 11, 1947." Includes an AMQS by Victor Herbert from "The Only Girl" on a 5 x 3.25 card, and a four-page ALS by Herbert, detailing two possible programs for a performance, "one of them about from 10 to 12 minutes shorter than the longer one." Among the songs Herbert proposes are: "Overture to the Comic Opera 'Mlle Modiste,' 2.a. 'Devotion' (new), b. I might be your 'once in a while' from 'Angel-Face,' c. 'Panamericana,' 3. a. Intermezzo from 'Naughty Marietta,' b. 'When you are away' from 'The Only Girl,' c. Entr’Acte from 'Her Regiment,' 4. Overture to the Irish Opera 'Eileen.'" In overall fine condition. Accompanied by an original ASCAP promo photo of Porter.
