Cole Model 1855 Revolving Half Stock Sporting Rifle
Colt manufactured approximately 1,500 of these half stock sporting rifles between 1857 and 1864. The top strap is marked "COLT'S PT / 1856" followed by "ADDRESS COL COLT / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." flanked by fancy brackets with the serial number on the bottom of the frame. German silver blade front and adjustable rear leaf sights. Six round cylinder, wooden ramrod with metal tip, scroll trigger guard, and mounted with a smooth forearm with silver forend and wedge escutcheon, checkered straight grip stock and crescent buttplate.

Condition: Good as restored. The metal surfaces have a dark artificial brown patina present on the frame and cylinder with traces of blue finish and scattered minor pitting, mainly concentrated on the barrel and trigger guard. The ramrod, forearm and stock have been restored to fine condition. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
