"Huffman subtitled this picture " Snug Little Home Among the Cottonwoods". Some who have lived in a log house with a sod roof would take exception to this nostalic view. Invariably the roof leaked if there was much rain and now and then a skunk or rattlesnake would take up residence under the floor boards. There was no indoor plumbing, the interior was dimply lit by kerosene lamp and wood for the stove had to be hauled and split. But most the time is sure beat living under canvas."
B) "The Line Camp"
Framed: 15 1/2" x 18 3/8", Unframed: 7 3/4 x 9 3/4 (sight), titled lower left: "The Line Camp", signed lower right: LA Huffman

"This snug log cabin was a permanent camp for these two coboys caring for the cattle on their portion of the range perhaps a day's ride from ranch headquarters. The head-room was low, the stove might smoke occasionally and the roof probably leaked when it rained, but it was home. A "slicker" is hung on the front cabin wall by the door and the round, tin tub at the end of the cabin served, among other things, as a bath tub."
