<B>Coffee Cup Given to Karen Kramer from John Wayne.</B></I> Paving the way for the disaster film genre, 1954's <I>The High and the Mighty</B></I> brought the film's star, John Wayne, in contact with a young actress named Karen Kramer (then known as Karen Sharpe). Impressed with her abilities, Wayne put her under contract to his new company, Batjac. This ceramic coffee cup, with a hand-painted <I>High and the Mighty</B></I> image, was a post-production gift from Wayne to Sharpe and reads "Karen from Duke" en verso.
