The photo depicts a young Indian woman standing against a rock face. She wears a long buckskin dress, and has a headband. The yellow matting is printed with red: By J.W. Powell and A.H. Thompson/ U.S. Topographical and Geological Survey of the Colorado River of the West. John Hillers was one of the photographers that accompanied the Powell Survey. The photo has good focus but the contrast is only medium. Still, a historically interesting photograph. 4 x 7.”
