The lot features a fantastic circa early 1900 wood, hide painted drum from the Cochiti Pueblo Native American Indians. The drum shows a wood frame with wetted and stretched rawhide on the top and bottom being held together with rawhide lacing. The drum shows mineral pigment paint in colors of red, green, white, and black. One side of the drum shows a good taunt hide with fine drum sound having a nice loss of paint consistent with age and use. The other side also has a nice, but lesser drum sound and worn patina from honest use and age with a crack at the center as shown. The drum is in very good condition from a large American Indian collection in Northwestern Montana outside Glacier National Park. The piece measures 8.5”H by 9.25”W by 10.5”W.
