This painting of the Montreal coastline is a testament to the skillful impressionistic style of Raymond Quirion. Born in 1919, Quirion became acquainted with the painters Frederick Rothermel and Boris Chezar, who influenced his work and under whose tutelage he discovered oil painting. In 1963 Quirion dedicated himself entirely to his paintings. He had his studio built on Mont Joli and spent the spring, summer and autumn in Perce every year, gathering inspiration for his works and creating canvases in the surroundings of the sea and the great Rock of Perce. This particular painting is of the famous rock itself and demonstrates the artist?s wonderful ability to capture the nuances of the Montreal coastline. Beautifully framed in a dark wood frame and a white liner, the finished size measures 11? by 9?. This painting will fit into almost any décor and is perfect for a small space, where it can enhance and enliven by bringing a vision of the sea to life.
