Coalport Egyptian Nefertiti Burial Theme Display
Featured in this lot is this Coalport Egyptian Nefertiti burial theme display. The display includes a ceramic bust from Coalport and modeled by John Bromley No. 14 of 250 of Nefertiti. The display includes a brass necklace with enamel decoration and a scarab bead in its center and shows two brass cat sculptures which were sacred to the Egyptians especially in the afterlife. Nefertiti (c. 1370 – c. 1330 BC) was a queen of the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, the great royal wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten. Nefertiti and her husband were known for their radical overhaul of state religious policy, in which they promoted the earliest known form of monotheism, Atenism, centered on the sun disc and its direct connection to the royal household. With her husband, she reigned at what was arguably the wealthiest period of ancient Egyptian history. The condition of this Egyptian display is good with some patina to the brass cat statues but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this display case is 13 1/2" x 17 1/2" x 11 1/2". The collective weight of this display is 13lb 6oz.
