Close copy of Henry Deringer probably by another Philadelphia maker with lock being marked “Deringer Philadelphia” and also marked at breech with “P” proof but no sunburst. The pistol shows 6 groove riflingand an engraved silver trigger guard with plain non engraved German silver escutcheons and a very nice engraved silver trigger guard that has turned black. The escutcheon around lock plate screw is iron and shows apoint at the bottom. The derringer measures 8” with nearly 3-3/4” rounded octagon barrel of almost 44 cal. The condition is good to very good with light pitting, traces of colors on lock and good to very good woodshowing some minor scratches and marks. From an old N.Y. collector’s estate. Est.;$600-$1,200.
