Clockwork Orange (Warner Brothers, 1971). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14"). Certainly unsettling and deeply disturbing, this was one of Kubrick's true masterpieces. In fact, it was one of only two films (the other being "Midnight Cowboy") released with an "X" rating to later be nominated for an Academy Award of Best Picture. Its ultra-violent subject matter and extreme sexual content caused a great deal of controversy and even resulted in copycat murders. Because of this, Kubrick withdrew the film from circulation in Britain. He later re-released the film in 1972 with 30 seconds of footage removed in order to receive an "R" rating. These cards date from the original 1971 release and feature the MPAA's "X" marking. This is of interest since the film was only released with this rating for about a year. The cards are glossy and mostly in good condition, with only pinholes, some corner wear and slight corner crimping. Two of the cards have a little more significant wrinkling, some of which invades the image area. The images are completely intact, however, and these are minor defects. Overall condition is Very Fine.
