Clipped point bowie knife with sterling silver hallmarked cutlery type handle by Wragg & Sons, furnace hill, Hill, 6-1/2” blade, 11-1/4” overall. Shows desirable Wragg calligraphy stampings, including Zach Talyor, mounted rifleman, XL&T cipher, Liberty Flag, hounds, and two ribbons near top of blade stamped California hunting knife. And the extended guard is of German silver and measures approx. 2-1/2” across with squared ends. The sterling silver body and grip shows hallmarks and hand-engraved crest with motto “Fiat Justica” meaning Fast justice, showing a winged bird holding the scales of justice. Meaning you get faster justice from this than you do from Lawyers. The blade shows a small loss at the tip, some slight erosion, pinprick pitting, and slight cleaning. The maker’s address is visible only from magnification. The knife has seen honest use and carry, probably to the American gold fields, and consigned from an old time member of the Bowie knife association who kept it to the end of his collecting career because of the character and use. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
