Clip point Bowie knife by Zeitz & Co, Boston, with one-piece rosewood birds head shaped hilt and original scabbard. Approx. 11-3/4” overall with 7-1/4” blade of heavy stock with sharpened false edge. The blade shows original satin finish and is near mint with full tip and full dimensions. The grip and general condition is near excellent overall. The crossguard is silver plated (turning blue-black) with German silver ferrule. Sheath is Sheffield style with leather veneer over cardboard and German silver mounts, and remains in near excellent condition. Zeitz is an early maker and we would date this unusual knife at about 1840. Hugh Hayes Collection. Est: $800 - $1,600
