Cleopatra (1963) Screen Used Roman Shield
A dramatic and beautifully realized Roman Shield from one of the grandest epic motion pictures of all time, “Cleopatra” (1963). This rare screen used set-piece is seen to great length in the palace in Alexandria in the iconic sequence when Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor) has herself “delivered” to Julius Caesar (Rex Harrison) wrapped up in a rug so as to secretly beg him to help her banish her younger brother from power, and regain control of Egypt. This great Shield which appears above them on the wall in this classic sequence comes directly from the 20th Century Fox Studio Prop Master Zoyd Luce, who created it as well as hundreds of props for the motion picture. The shield still has the original custom brackets and wire to facilitate hanging on the production set. Hand painted, its oval shape is approx. 23"x31. Comes with a Letter of Provenience from Mr. Luce's son. Oversized. Additional postage required.
