Highly influential French painter (1840–1926) who was among the leading figures of the impressionist movement, which took its name from the title of one of Monet’s works. Partial ALS in French, one page, 4.5 x 2.75, no date. Partial letter from his later years. In full (translated): “I live as a retiree and I demand that I am left alone. I count on you and send you my friendship.” In fine condition, with light central vertical and horizontal folds, one through a single letter of the signature, a couple trivial creases, and a rough top edge where it was once part of a larger sheet.
