Classic prewar German sporting rifle on Model 98 Mauser action with Mannlicher type bolt handle, double set triggers, nicely checkered select walnut stock with right-hand cheek piece, folding two leaf iron rear sights,mounted with a prewar German scope by Zeiss numbered 6116 on high rise look through mounts on quick detachable claw bases. The action and trigger guard are lightly scroll engraved in German motifs. The gun is in 8mmbore but not marked for S or J bore and should be slugged before firing. Included is a prewar .22 caliber conversion unit fitted to this rifle. The rifle remains in very good condition showing 75% to 85% original bluewhich is toning and aging nicely with some slight scratches and just beginning normal age. The stocks are very good showing refreshing to the checkering and light refinishing. The rifle has been fitted with a hard rubber modern recoil pad and shows European type sling swivels. Stock measures 13 7/8” to the end of the wood and nearly 15” to the end of pad. The scope shows a military type 3 thick post with center arrow
