Classic Sharps Model 1874 Sporting rifle, .44 cal., 2-5/8” case, period shortened 28” heavy barrel marked “Old Reliable”, blue and case hardened finish, double set triggers, buckhorn rear sight, old silver blade frontsight and adjustable vernier tang sight, wood fore end and replaced Sharps carbine butt stock with sling swivel base and steel butt plate, #158776. This gun is in overall good to very good condition showing a plum brownpatina to the barrel, traces of silvery toning to the lock plate, fair to good bore, good action and markings, matching serial numbered barrel, well-worn fore stock with old loss to the right top side and scatteredmars and dings from carry and storage; overall very good replaced butt stock. Accompanied by a copy of a factory letter dated October 1, 1979 when Dr. Moore had the Sharps factory records indicating this gunwas invoiced on September 5, 1877 to Frank E. Conrad, Fort Griffin, Texas and confirming the model, caliber, double set triggers and heavy 14-3/4 pound barrel with factory records indicating the gun was shipped
