Classic English boxlock double-rifle by William Evans of London in .400-360 2-3/4” caliber, regulated for 40 grains of powder and 500 grain bullet. The rifle shows 26” barrels, 42-5/8” overall, reblued finish,serial #15310. The rifle shows 3-leaf rear sights, marked 100, 200, and 500 yards. The front sight is marked the “Turnover Sight” and is patented. The front sight simply flips over to use a bead or post, quite ingenious. The frame has been lightly-polished to grey when refinished. The removable floorplate, triggerguard, and pistol grip cap and release are all nicely refinished. The rifle is scroll engraved. The rifle is nicelyrestocked in select walnut and European style. Importer marks on bottom of barrel. Double triggers, auto ejectors, full series of nitro proofs marked “Cordite 40-300 max”. The stock measures 15-1/8” to the end of thewood, 15-1/8” to the end of the wood, and stocks are very well made in a select grade walnut with good quality wood to metal fit by a competent gunsmith.
