c1870 Approximately 0.25 x 0.5 x 2.6” rectangular silver ingot. “”1.1636 silver, .82.68 gold, 1.8304 ozs// FINE 900 silver, 40 gold// Total Value $3.19” No makers marks. Squared edges, polished faces, including ends. I suggest this may be an “exhibition” ingot, used for public display next to ore specimens from a mine used in a classic display promoting the mine to gain investment capital. The style of manufacture is of the American West, particularly of some Comstock and Idaho assayers, such as Blake and Weigand. This is the first appearance of this ingot, not seen before. - HKA#65010
