Swing and bebop trumpeter and pioneer of the flugelhorn in jazz (1920–2015) who appeared on over 900 recordings during a career that lasted 70 years; a member of The Tonight Show Band from 1962 to 1972, Terry played alongside jazz luminaries like Charlie Barnet, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, and Oscar Peterson. Two items: an ALS, one page, 5.75 x 8.25, February 5, 1990, in part: "I don't recall whether we sent you a photo before or not. If not I'm sorry and I do apologize for waiting so long. (I've been very busy traveling). If on the other hand we've already sent a photo, please forgive my stupidity," with Terry adding a trumpet sketch to his signature; and a glossy 8 x 10 photo of Terry staring into the camera and holding his trumpet, signed and inscribed in red felt tip, "To Bootsie, All the best!! Sincerely, Clark Terry," who adds a sketch of a trumpet. In overall fine condition.
