Clark Gable - Culver Pictures (c.1937). Still (10 X 13
Clark Gable - Culver Pictures (c.1937). Still (10" X 13"). Clark Gable by Durward Graybill. A great example of studio special photography and the methods they used to manipulate geography. The caption on the reverse states that Clark had just finished the MGM film "Parnell" and was going to start "Saratoga" (both 1937), and that he loved to go to Arizona to relax. But of course the special photo unit wasn't about to travel that far, so, as further stated in the caption, this photo was snapped in the Santa Barbara Mountains a few miles from MGM's Culver City lot. No mention was made of the auto, which means that it was probably a studio prop car. Printed on Single Weight paper. CGC: Fine.
