<td width="100%">
A Clarice Cliff bowl, in the Raffia pattern. Part of the Bizarre series. The mark reads ?Handpainted Bizarre by Clarice Cliff, Newport Pottery, England.? (The standard printed mark) and
?Registration Applied For?. This mark was used from 1931-1934, although Raffia was introduced around 1936 - maybe this was an early release of the pattern? Raffia pattern is an
imitation of coiled bands of woven raffia, and this is the impressed shape on the outside of the bowl. The painted decoration is bands of colour over this. (Raffia Indiana). The bowl has been used, and has stained crazing to the inside
bottom, and two small hairlines running inside only from the rim to part way down the inside side. Nothing on the outside.
Underneath the base has crazing staining showing through. May clean up with light bleaching or other treatment. (See photos).
Measures 21cm (8.1/4 inches) diameter, and stands 8.25cm (3.1/4 inches) high. This is the genuine article, and definitely not a reproduction.
