Oil on Canvas. Title is Golden Gate Bridge. 11" by 14" unframed, 14 3/4" by 17 5/8" framed. Provenance: Private Collection Santa Fe New Mexico, John Fillmore Gallery Santa Fe. Clarence Keiser Hinkle (1880 - 1960) was active/lived in California. Clarence Hinkle is known for Landscape, still life and portrait painting. Clarence Hinkle was born in Auburn, California, in 1880, and grew up on a ranch outside Sacramento. Hinkle studied at the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento, the Mark Hopkins Institute in San Francisco, Art Students League in New York, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Academie Colarossi and Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he was greatly influenced by Impressionism. He returned to the U.S. in 1912, spending 5 years living and exhibiting his works in San Francisco, before moving to Southern California to teach at the Los Angeles School of Art & Design and Chouinard Institute. Hinkle remained active as a painter and teacher in Laguna Beach, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara, where he died in 1960.
