Brilliant defense attorney (1857–1938) noted for his role in the Scopes ‘Monkey’ Trial and the Leopold-Loeb thrill-killing case. Vintage 8.5 x 11 book photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “Clarence Darrow, With best wishes to his friend Donald Gallagher, Chicago, March 14th, 1929.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 14 x 16.5. In very good condition, with light scattered soiling and surface impressions, moderate foxing to the lower left, and the inscription and signature a shade light.
