Civil War era flat metal canteen covered in tan material with leather thong carrying strap, marked in faded ink “J.H.A. CO. F 2d. Rt. TENN.” The canteen is in overall good condition with the majority of its cover is present; the carrying strap is dry but mostly complete and there is a remnant of a cork plug in the neck of the canteen. A file folder with this lot from the consignor provides information on a Cpl. James H. Acuff, 2nd Tenn. Cavalry with a one page history on Acuff from the American Civil War Research Database and additional information on the 2nd Tennesse’s war record. Est.: $3,500-$4,500.
