Civil War era engraved Tranter’s Patent percussion revolver, .44 cal., 5” octagon barrel, Southern agent-marked “Made Expressly For D. Kernaghan & Co. New Orleans”, blue finish, checkered wood grips, finger-restextension on trigger, #1182T. This gun is in uncleaned out-of-the-attic good condition showing ample areas of original blue under a heavy dark patina and scattered age surface grime and some erosion; two frame screws onleft side missing, dark bore, action needs work, original nipples present and in good shape; wood grips are very good. These guns were popular with Southern Officers during the Civil War as most rank and file soldiersof the Confederacy couldn’t afford the luxury of such an expensive sidearm; a very desirable agent marking and in the condition experienced collectors like to find them.
