Civil War associated Whitney Navy Model percussion revolver, .36 cal., 7-1/2” octagon barrel, blue finish, wood grips, #5348. This gun descended thru the family of Henry B. Barber, with original Civil War dischargepaper, old photo of Barber in front of a house in his later life and an 1884 U.S. Morgan silver dollar with two bullet holes that by family tradition was shot by Henry with this revolver to demonstrate hismarksmanship years after the War. Barber was an enlisted man with Company A, 7th Illinois Cavalry Regiment; he enrolled in the unit on August 10, 1861 and was honorably discharged on October 15, 1864. This gun is in overallvery good condition showing an even brown patina on metal surfaces and shows holster wear on the left muzzle and some scattered pitting confined primarily to the firing areas; very good bore, crisp action, sharpmarkings, brass trigger guard, very good grips showing an old arch compression on the left grip with some mars at the bottom of the grips.
