Civil War Union Soldier Tintype in a Union Case
Civil War Union Soldier Tintype in a Union Case under glass with a brass shell mat, 2.5" x 3.75". This gentleman with the interesting set of chin whiskers looks like he's ready for battle holding a M1860 (model 1860) cavalry sabre and with a Remington (or Remington look-alike) pistol in his belt. His uniform is standard Federal cavalry trooper attire with a Hardee hat. He is posed (a bit stiffly) in a studio in front of a railing and the photographer has added a bit of color to the photo with some gold leaf on the buttons, sleeve trim, and hat emblem. The condition is fine save for some crazing in what looks like a clear lacquer coating. The leather-covered wooden case is near excellent with the double hinges present and functional.
