Civil War Union General Alexander Hamilton Photograph
c. 1875, Cabinet Card Photograph of Civil War Union General Alexander Hamilton, Choice Very Fine.
Very scarce, original Cabinet Card Photograph of Civil War Major General Alexander Hamilton, measuring 4.25” x 6.5”. The text below image reads, “Vanderbilt, City of Sing Sing, New York.” Identified on reverse in blue ink, “Major General Alexander Hamilton Tarrytown N.Y.” Hamilton was the grandson of Alexander Hamilton, the famous first Secretary of the Treasury. General Alexander Hamilton was a career artillery officer, and was promoted to Major General during the Civil War for his work with Professor Thaddeus Lowe and the military observation balloon service. He later reported directly to President Lincoln, and was in charge of troops during the New York City Draft Riots. Clean in appearance, nice contrast and tone, and very presentable.
