Blade front and folding leaf rear sights on barrel marked with "V P eagle head" proofs on left rear and top dated "1863" along with the number "8" and "POST/110" stamped on top rear breech. American eagle on bolster with the 1863 dated lock plate having the eagle/shield motif next to "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" ahead of the hammer. Full length military style stock with a "US" marked buttplate. Barrel bands correctly lack springs. With a wooden barrel plug and "US" marked socket bayonet.

Condition: Very good. The metal is a silver gray patina with very crisp markings overall. There is some pin point pitting. The stock is very good with an overcoat of varnish, some minor handling marks and the letter "M" carved near the trigger guard. The flat portions are fine. Mechanically fine. Bayonet has a smooth dark patina.
