Civil War U.S. Martially Inspected Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver

Manufactured in 1862, with a 3-screw frame cut for a shoulder stock. The top of the barrel has the one-line New York U. S. America address flanked by dashes, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame and the Texas naval battle scene on the rebated cylinder. Inspector initial "CC" is found on the left side of the barrel, "W" on the right barrel side, "C" and "W" on the cylinder and "H" on the grip straps. Matching numbers on the barrel, frame, grip straps and cylinder. The barrel wedge is numbered to another gun (1808). The grip has a boxed cartouche (faint) on both lower sides. The Colt Model 1860 Army revolver was the primary handgun issued to the Federal cavalry during the Civil War and remained the primary cavalry handgun until the Model 1873 Cavalry revolver was issued to the regular cavalry regiments in 1874.

Fine. The revolver retains 20% plus original blue finish (mostly on the barrel) and traces of original case colors in the protected areas with the balance a mottled gray patina. A small area of minor pitting is present at the muzzle (left side). The trigger guard has an aged patina. Most of the cylinder scene remains. The grip is very good with a small chip missing near the bottom (left side), some wear along the bottom edge and a small deep gouge (right side). Mechanically fine.
