Manufactured on contract by the U.S. Government in 1862. The revolver has the four screw frame cut for a shoulder stock and iron back strap. The top of the barrel has the standard one line New York, U.S. America address, with "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene and stamped with the partial serial number "1043". There is an Inspector initial "G" on the left rear of the barrel, "S" behind the trigger guard and "L" on top of the back strap. Matching serial number on barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the partial serial number, "1043", on the wedge and arbor pin. Fitted with an original oil finished walnut grip stamped with a visible cartouche on the left side. Comes with a two cavity iron bullet mold marked "COLT'S/PATENT on the sprue cutter and Dixon & Sons bag shaped powder flask.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown and gray patina with a few minor dings on the barrel and cylinder. The cylinder scene has been polished down and is 50% visible with an artificial brown finish overall. The trigger guard has an aged patina. The grip is good with a small chip on each toe, some lower edge wear and overall minor scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The flask is good with a few minor dents and an aged patina. The mold is also good with a dark mottled patina.
