Available for purchase is this Large Civil War Style Confederate D-Guard forged iron Bowie Knife. The knife features a heavy forged like blade, matching D-Guard and 2-piece wood handle/grip. Overall the piece measures 16 1/2 inches in length making it a larger size fighting side knife that was particularly popular with soldiers of the Confederacy. Numerous Civil War photos exist showing southern volunteers with their muskets and various size D-Guard Bowies. The knife features a weathered two-piece wood grip with the wood and metal having a worn finish. Wonderful rare piece done in the style of a Civil War/Confederate display piece seldom offered. Age and origin of the piece are not confirmed. The piece is marked "CS 1862."
