Manufactured between 1863 and 1865 with approximately 32,000 made and approximately 25,000 purchased under U.S. contract. Dovetail blade front sight and hammer groove rear sight. Standard "STARR. ARMS. CO. NEW. YORK." address on left side of frame and "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" on the right. Serial numbers match on the front of the barrel lug, on the cylinder and the hammer cutout on the frame. There is a "M" and "C" inspection mark on some components. Fitted with one-piece varnished walnut grips with a faint cartouche on the bottom of each side and a repair on the butt.

Condition: Very good. The revolver retains 10% scattered original blue finish mixed with a smooth mottled gray patina. With the exception of the above named repair to the grip, the grip is good as varnished with a few minor chips along the bottom edge and a few scattered minor dings. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
