This example is one of the rifles in the second order with serial numbers in the 22,000 to 24,000 range. Has a German silver blade front sight in a lug that doubles as the bayonet attachment point. Has a folding ladder rear sight. The barrel has 6 groove rifling. There is a faint "M" on the left rear section of the barrel. The receiver is marked with the three-line Spencer address and patent markings on top of the chamber. Mounted on a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a metal forearm tip, sling swivels and a steel buttplate.
