Civil War Remington New Model Army Single Action Percussion Revolver, #53270, .44 cal., 8" octagonal barrel marked with the maker's name, address, 1858 patent date and "New Model", has hinged loading lever and sliding cylinder arbor; plain 6-shot round cylinder with safety notches between nipples; solid frame has long topstrap sighting groove, separate brass trigger guard, integral gripstraps, 2-pc. oil-stained walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1863-75. Condition is very good retaining approx. 25% thin barrel blue, traces to frame, overall gunmetal gray having light erosion. Grips are sound showing wear and nicks and a later coat of varnish. Action is strong, bore shows overall moderate erosion and fair rifling. Est.: $600-$900. (Antique)
