Civil War Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver
Manufactured from 1863-1875. Fixed pinched blade front sight and notched rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION NEW YORK. U.S.A / NEW-MODEL". Brass trigger guard. Single letter inspection marks (C and D) are stamped on most of the components. Matching serial number on frame and barrel. Smooth walnut grips with a boxed script cartouche (BH) on the left panel and "D" inspector letter on both bottoms.
BBL: 8 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 44 percussion
Finish: blue
Grips: cartouched walnut
Serial Number: 92535
Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 60% original blue finish with the balance a flaked black iron rust (like a frying pan). Most of the exposed areas have light oxidation with the balance having a smooth brownish gray patina. The trigger guard has an untouched dark aged patina. The grips are very fine with exception of a number of small chips and dings along the bottom edges and bottoms. The cartouche is excellent plus. The action is very tight, probably from having no use as this revolver appears unissued. The markings are excellent. This example looks like it just came out of an attic!
