Civil War Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver
The Remington New Model Army Revolver was manufactured from 1863 to 1873 and was the second most widely issued Federal handgun and to some extent supplanted the Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver as the primary revolver issued to the cavalry in 1864 and 1865. The top barrel flat has the standard Remington address, patent dates and "New Model" markings in three lines. The matching serial number is located on the bottom of the barrel, rear face of cylinder (last 4 digits "1511"), and on the left side of the frame under the grip. Small inspector marks , "W" are stamped on most components. The grips are smooth with a boxed "BH" script cartouche on each panel and an "R" on the bottom of the right panel. The Remington New Model Army Revolver was a rugged and well designed handgun that saw considerable use in the Civil War and on the post-war frontier.

Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina with traces of the original blue finish in the protected areas of the recoil shields and some strong original dull case colors on the left rear of the loading lever. There is some pin prick type pitting on the barrel and some minor flash pitting on the cylinder around the nipples. Also, the secondary notches on the rear face of the cylinder are heavily battered. The trigger guard has an aged patina. The grips are very good plus with a few chips along the lower edges, a few dings on the bottoms, overall minor dings and dents and the cartouches are clear. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
