29 1/2 inch blade with double fullers and etched decoration, including oak leaves, naval designs "J.W. Flansburgh" is etched in a panel on the reverse of the blade. The sword has a gold-plated brass hilt, with pierced oak leaf and "USN" designs on the guard, scales on the knuckle bow, oak leaves on the helmet pommel, and wire wrapped rayskin grip. With a black leather scabbard, with a sea-serpent motif on the drag and coiled rope pattern suspension bands.

Condition: Very good, with mild spotting, light handling marks and strong etching on the blade, a fine aged patina on the exposed areas of the brass, and minor loss and wear on the grip. The sheath is very good, with some light scuffing and cracking of the leather, and a mixed patina on the fittings.
