Manufactured from 1861 to 1874 the Number Two was a popular personal sidearm among Civil War soldiers. German silver blade front sight and notch rear, with "SMITH. & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD, MASS." on top of the barrel and the ejector secured to the lug, which is marked "U 5". The unfluted cylinder has the patent dates. The frame is numbered "15153" on the butt and "U 5" on the left side under the grips. Fitted with smooth rosewood grips with matching serial number on the right panel.

Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 50% original blue finish (mostly on the frame sides and cylinder) with the balance a smooth dark patina with some minor spotting. The barrel has even minor pitting. The grips are very fine with most of the varnish remaining and some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
