Civil War Photograph of 1st Indiana Artillery Band,<p>attributed to Andrew D. Lytle of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, circa 1862-63. Salted paper photograph, 5 x 3.5" (sight). This photograph was apparently used in Miller's "Photographic History of the Civil War" (see Volume VIII) where it is titled "A Western Band - Field Musicians of the First Indiana Heavy Artillery at Baton Rouge, Louisiana." Archivally matted and mounted in a large 11 x 9" thermoplastic wall frame, with a relief border decoration of day lilies. A rare Indiana image.<p>Photograph with strong tonality, but with faint white inked halo used when image was published, with various pencilled notes on verso. Frame with two stress cracks and several chips on verso.
