Civil War Photo Album
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Civil War photo album dated May 1863 with an inscription ''Charles W. Darling from his friend Mrs. R.R Pomroy,'' containing 30 CDVs of presumably family members and friends along with a portrait of a Union general. The photo album begins with a loose CDV of an unidentified Union general wearing a shoulder patch with two stars. The other pictures are a combination of soldiers wearing military dress and civilians, both men and woman, and most have a watermark on the verso including two from famed Civil War photographer Mathew Bradys studio. One interesting photo shows a Zouave soldier identified as ''Geo K Pomroy.'' The CDVs measure on average 2.5 x 3.75 with the majority containing identified names written in pencil beneath the photo on the page. The photos are in very good condition with light spotting and foxing. The pages have foxing, spotting and toning and have separated from the 5.5 x 5.75 album, which contains two decorative pin-hinges. Very good condition.
